I’m honoured to have been elected as a National Vice President for the Media section with the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance.
Here’s the write up from MEAA.
It’s official! Here’s the blurb:
Meet your new leadership team
Kate Ferguson has been elected new Federal Vice-President of MEAA Media. Ferguson, most recently WA Branch President, will join Federal President Karen Percy and Vice-President Erin Delahunty to form the Media section’s leadership team. Percy and Delahunty were elected for a second term in the role.
ABC journalist Emma Field will also sit on the MEAA Board as Victorian Board representative.
Ferguson has over 20 years’ experience in both regional and city locations, for a broad range of media, including ABC, Seven West Media, The West Australian, Channel Ten, 7 Regional and 6PR. She has worked primarily as a video journalist, aiming to break down stereotypes associated with women working with tech, including cameras, editing and drones.
Ferguson replaces Leigh Tonkin, who decided not to seek re-election for a third term as Federal Media Vice-President.
Other changes following the recent union elections include Michael Balk replacing Simon Collins as Federal President of MEAA. Collins has retired after almost a decade as Federal President and 20 years before that on the federal management committee. Balk is a long-term member of the Equity section’s National Performers Committee, and has most recently sat on the MEAA Board as Queensland representative.
Kimberley Wheeler has been elected Federal President of MEAA’s Musicians section while Jason Klarwein (Equity) and Fiona Donovan (ECS) were re-elected for third terms.

I’m also so pleased the legendary Tim Clarke from Seven West Media will be replacing me as the WA President for the Media section.
